Hi, I'm Sally
Thank you for stopping by. Simple Healthnut is for those of us who want to take the simpler path to health and happiness. We're not looking for a diet - we're looking for a healthy lifestyle we can stick with and enjoy!
I've been a self-proclaimed health nut for over forty years and wrote my first book, Forget the Fad and Eat the Food, a few years ago. You can read the beginning of it here.
To find out what's worked so well for me, please check out my About page.
Wishing you health and happiness.
The Mediterranean Diet
If you're looking for a lifestyle that's stood the test of time for being healthy, I'd recommend going the Mediterranean way. The focus is on vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, and whole grains. And depending on what you like (and likes you back), add in moderate amounts of fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy. Occasional (grass-fed) red meat is also okay. This is a way of life - so savor your food. And if you enjoy wine, have a glass of that too!
Skincare and Serenity!
Ladies, I think I've found it - a winning formula for fighting wrinkles and feeling better about growing older. I'm happy to say that with age has come a little wisdom, and I'd like to share what's working for me. My ablutions (love that word) have never been simpler, and I no longer have a drawer full of skincare products to dig through. I'm embracing the fabulous fifties, soon to be spectacular sixties - which my mother said was her happiest decade!

The Perks of coffee - and how it changed my life!
I will always remember my first latte: it was at a waterfront coffee shop in Scottsdale, Arizona. For some inexplicable reason, I had let fifty plus years of my life slip by without having a single cup of coffee. But after savoring just a few sips of this new and delectable concoction I was in awe - this wasn't just a beverage; it was an experience! I now look forward to coffee time with the same joyful anticipation I once had for happy hour - and I'm getting into far less trouble! ... continue reading here
Mango and Ginger Smoothie
This is my absolute favorite smoothie. It's brimming with anti-aging, disease-fighting ingredients. The only thing missing is something green - so feel free to throw in a generous handful of spinach to make it perfect. (I just love the golden color, so I eat veggies later in the day.)
1 cup frozen mangoes
1 tablespoon Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon Peanut butter
2 Medjool dates, pitted (be sure to throw the pits away!)
Fresh ginger, peeled and sliced (I love ginger, so I use about an inch.)
1 scoop collagen powder (optional, butI like Vital Proteins, unflavored)
1 cup of milk, or enough to cover the other ingredients. (I like to use oat milk in my smoothies.)
Add the following ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
Nothing tastes as good as feeling fabulous feels
