I like to do most of my shopping at the supermarket, where I can see and feel what I'm buying. But some items can be hard to find. Here are some of my favorite foods that I like to keep on hand.
Bob's Red Mill Scottish Oatmeal
I've always wondered why American oatmeal tastes so different from the porridge I grew up with in the UK. And I'm delighted to have discovered the answer! You can read all about it in my blog "Meet the Real Oatmeal!" But the quick answer is in the processing. Regular American oats are steamed and rolled (or cut, in the case of steel cut.) Scottish oats are stone-ground which produces the creamiest oatmeal.
